Alaska’s first Coerver® Coaching Center of Excellence opened this fall at the Wasilla Sports Complex, with identified younger players embarking upon an 18-week advanced individual training curriculum. Players were selected for the Center of Excellence (COE) after a four-week identification program, which included an introduction to the Coerver® method.

Coerver Centers of Excellence offer a structured player development program designed to foster a competitive environment for talented young players. This program stimulates young players to develop at an accelerated rate while allowing them (and their families) to enjoy the benefits of continuing to play with their friends on their existing teams.

The curriculum fosters a superior skill-set on the ball, the ability to play at high speed, elite-level game intelligence, disciplined training habits and more. Players train in a structured learning environment that emphasizes individual technique and small-group play. The curriculum is challenging. It is developed for players to master basic skills and gradually move into more difficult skills, but it also emphasizes creativity and spontaneity. In short, players will learn proper technique, from ball mastery and dribbling to moves to beat opponents, moves to change direction, passing and receiving, turning, striking the ball and playing in the air. Participants are challenged to play quickly in environments that put their skills to the test, building confidence that allows them to succeed at the highest levels of the game.

Over the past 25 years, Coerver’s® Advanced Youth Development Training Programs have been adopted by many of the world’s top professional clubs and national federations.
