4th Annual Thanksgiving Tournament

November 27, 28, 29

Menard Sports Complex

Wasilla, AK

This tournament has been sanctioned by US Club Soccer. However, US Youth Soccer teams and players are eligible to take part, even if not currently registered with US Club Soccer. For non-US Club Soccer teams, please choose the option for your team that includes the US Club Insurance fee of $50 to cover the cost of your one-time tournament insurance.

Tournament Scoring: 6 points for a win, 3 points for a draw, 0 points for a loss. Teams will receive 1 point for each goal scored (win or lose) up to three goals, and 1 point for a shutout. There will be a maximum of 10 points per game.

Team format: 7v7 for U11 Copa and Predator, 6v6 for U13 and U15, and all co-ed, and 5v5 for U15+.

Tournament Divisions: The tournament will feature boys and girls divisions U11 through U15+, but depending upon registration numbers, the tournament committee has the ability to restructure the divisions as needed to create brackets that are more competitive. The U11 Copa division is for U9/U10 pre-competitive teams and U11 recreational teams, while the U11 Predator division will be made up of U11 competitive teams. All teams, regardless of age, may request to play up.

The tournament will also feature co-ed divisions, as noted below (two females must be on the field at all times during co-ed play, not including the goalkeeper):

Copa Division (boys up to U12; girls up to U13)

Predator Division (boys up to 14; girls up to U15)

Open Division (boys up to U17, girls up to U18)

Players may register for two teams in this tournament—one within their gender, and a co-ed team.

For those who might want to take part and do not have a team, there is an open player-pool registration available. The tournament committee will place those players on a team in need, or form a team from the player pool.

Tournaments

MSC teams compete in up to five tournaments within the state of Alaska each summer (Ina K, Midnight Sun, Far North, Zane Cup and the Alaska State Cup), as well as continue on to Far West Regionals (US Youth Soccer) or US Club Regional play.

Tournament play is directed by the team coach, in consultation with MSC senior staff, who consider a host of factors in determining the best venues for each MSC team to compete. Not all teams will take part in all tournaments, though we do allow our players the option to guest-play with other competitive teams if they so choose (and if their play will not conflict with existing MSC commitments).

In addition, coaches of MSC competitive teams are encouraged to put forth a plan for out-of-state or even international travel for their teams. The club recommends highly the experience—and not just for the soccer-related benefits, but also for the social and educational experiences outside travel brings—and we will assist in selecting a proper venue for each team, travel and tour arrangements and even scheduling outside clinics or friendly games.

For MSC players seeking further travel opportunities, club staff will utilize our extensive network of coaching contacts to assist in finding other elite teams and tournaments looking for guest players.

Please see our Travel page for more information on the whereabouts, results or upcoming destinations of MSC travel teams.
